The Brief
As part of a major expansion of their e-commerce fulfilment operation, Made.com required a high-volume racking solution at their new facility at London Gateway Port. The system had to be fast, accessible, and scalable, supporting rapid order turnaround, a diverse range of SKUs, and standard forklift access throughout.
The Challenge
Design and install a racking layout that combines bulk storage capacity with efficient access for picking and replenishment. The warehouse needed to
support smooth forklift movement, clear aisle navigation, and fast turnaround of outbound stock, all delivered within a tight programme and in full compliance with CDM 2015.
What We Delivered
- Full design, supply and installation of a 22,000-position wide aisle pallet racking system
- Layout optimised for standard forklift operation and efficient traffic flow
- Flexible racking configuration to accommodate a wide mix of product sizes and categories
- Delivered under CDM 2015 with full H&S documentation, method statements and risk assessments
- Managed from planning to completion with minimal disruption to wider site works
The Result
Made.com now operates a high-capacity, fast-access warehouse built specifically for e-commerce fulfilment. The pallet racking system supports rapid picking, streamlined replenishment, and future expansion, providing a scalable backbone for a high-performance, multi-product logistics operation.
